Golden Retriever Behavior

             One breed of numerous kinds of dogs is called Golden Retriever. It is called Golden because of its general golden color of its outer coat. It is called retriever because of its use as retriever of shot fowls and game birds from the forest and waters. Both of its inner and outer layers are waterproof. It is breed so that its mouth is soft; the retrieved birds are not damaged because of its soft mouth. The Golden Retrievers can also be used as guide dogs for blinds, rescue operation dogs and drug buster dogs. They are very friendly with the owners and strangers. That is why they are not very good guard dogs. They like activities and are playful all the time, and like to play with toys in the mouth. They don't like to be alone. They get along very well with other small pets.

            Golden Retriever dog is said to be one of the best dogs in the world. Because of its happy go around and pleasing personality it is the 4th most family dog in the United States of America; it is 5th and 8th most popular dog in Australia and United Kingdom respectively. Golden Retriever behavioral characteristics are listed below:

            . They are smart, active, sociable. They can be trained easily.

            . They like outdoor activities.

            . They remain juvenile till the age of 2-3 years of their 10-11 years life span. As a Juvenile they shall do jumping, putting things in mouth. During the process they shall knock down things. That is why they need proper training during the Juvenile period. Adult golden retriever is much more organized in this respect.

            . They are born fetcher. They are expert in all fetching games like fetching a ball, fetching a spinning plate.

            . They are friendly with the owner as well as stranger, to children and other pets. They generally bark to greet as opposed to warning.

            .  Sometimes they are territorial.

            . They are mouthy; but they never bite during anger and protection.

            . They hate to be alone. It is better to be left with another dog if they are to be left home alone.

            .  Golden Retriever is said to have good mind and heart; but he is big and full of energy and he needs more activities to do. He needs regular exercise and training to control his robustness and joyfulness.

            One should enjoy the Golden Retriever if one is active, playful, and one has a heart and a mind like the golden dog.
